More focused initial designs:

These are my more focused designs. I need 8-10 designs for my final collection, however there are 15 here- which I am really happy with in terms of colour palette, composition and range of garments. I have narrowed down my main colour palette to 12 colours. I am going to take them in to my last tutorial to get advice on which ones to use for the final collection- I am hoping to include: 3 hoodies, 4 t-shirts and 3 shorts.

Initial outfit designs

I was beginning to struggle with creating bugs and designs without seeing them as a garment, so I decided to create the designs directly on to garments as I go. I have used the colour palette I posted the other day, however it is obvious I need to either edit the colour palette, or work more on the colour placement for my collection. I am, however, happy with the range of composition I have used as for the final collection I want to have it quite varied in terms of pattern and placement.

Website Design- CreepeeRobotsInc

In order to present my concept as a brand, I have decided to create a mock-up website for it, demonstrating the clothes my company will sell, as well as the custom option.
I have research other children's wear websites, such as the example below. "Notsobig" have a simple website, and feature designer children's wear.

I am basing my website design upon "Notsobig"'s website, below is the development for CreepeeRobotsInc. site:

^I kept the model from "Notsobig" as I felt he fits quite well with my customer audience, as well as the hoodie he is wearing which I will be able to work on later.

^Similar to "notsobig", I have included the ranges (Boy's clothes; Custom-made garments) and have specified what is available, (Hoodies; t-shirts; shorts; underwear)

^I felt the white background was too plain since I had deleted the brown background. so I included one of my characters in a stripe, position carefully behind the model.

^I added another stripe and a smaller character. This was to 1. make the back a little more symmetrical, and 2. to highlight the option bars. I also used photoshop to add my own design to the model's hoodie.

^ This is a mock-up of the web page which would open when choosing the "Boys clothes" option on the left-hand side. I have kept in colour theme with the rest of the website and used garment flats to display what my designs would look like on real garments. I have also deleted the "underwear" option because I have decided to only design for hoodies, t-shirt and shorts.

Below are my final website mock-ups.

I am happy with these as a means to present my branding and concept. However, whilst still designing my garment range, I think I will keep an open mind about possibly designing the website further.

Colour Palette for C.R.I range

Although up to know I have struggled with deciding on a colour palette, I have been working on some initial garment ideas (to be posted shortly) and have developed a colour palette. Although quite large at 16 colours, as I develop the garment design further, the colour palette will hopefully decrease to around 8 colours.

CreepeeRobotsInc: Bug collection

The concept of CreepeeRobotsInc is that as well as a custom option (still to be properly thought out and presented) there will also include a range of ready-to-wear outfits (T-shirt and Shorts). To create these, I have used hand-drawn techniques and photoshop to put the insects together:

I like this bugs I have created, however feel that to go any further, with colour and position, I should begin to design garments alongside of the insects so that I know they will look effective.

CreepeeRobotsInc: Customer Profile

I have edited the customer profile board I created yesterday. I felt the brand name was too complicated above all of the other images involved. If this is going to be one of my presentation boards the templates (i.e borders) need to be consistent- so I edited the logo on them so as not to distract the viewer from the rest of the board.

CreepeeRobotsInc: Branding Proposal

I have been working on my brand logo and merchandise. The swing tags have now got a dark grey frame around, which I was able to pick now that I have been working on my colour palette. The back of the swing tag is this colour, too, a decision I chose when researching other designer brand's tags.

These are my final neck tags, I have created the templates on illustrator and included the sizes, as well as edited some of the logo so it is less complicated in such a small space.
This is the customer profile I have made for my brand. It describes the type of person who will shop at CreepeeRobotosInc, although I don't imagine they are rich as in millionaires, instead I imagine the women to be business women, with enough disposable income to buy themselves and their children the odd designer treat.

Market Research: Swing Tag

I have researched swing tags and how other brands have created them.
I like the use of different colours on each side of the tags, and also this research has me less worried about the logo being too complicated- I have already edited the logo for the neck tag, so don't want to take too much away from the swing tag as it is the most obvious place for branding placement.

Branding: CreepeeRobotsInc: Neck labels

I have designed neck labels for my brand. I included the logo and the sizes I am designing for. Hopefully I will be able to print some out and create samples.

Branding: CreepeeRobotsInc: Swing tags and logo: In Progress

These are my finished swing tags for the "CreepeeRobotsInc" brand. I have included the brand name and logo (CreepeeRobotsInc), who it's for (Boys wear), and what it is (Fun fashion..)
I will continue to design neck tags (for the back of the garments) and project board templates.

Branding my project: CreepeeRobotsInc.- In Progress

I have decided to create a brand for my range as part of my project. The project is very much based around professionalism so I wanted to produce a project demonstrating a company and how I would present my ideas as part of a brand.
I have named my company "CreepeeRobotsInc."- An original mix of "Creepy Crawlies" and Robotic themes. I believe it would relate to young boys the way my designs will, it sums up the theme well and the spelling is eye-catching and childish I feel.
I have designed a logo for my brand and began to design swing tags:

I am currently working on the back of the swing tag which will include more info of the company, and the garment it will be attached to.
Trying to make it look professional, I am taking the time to decide on certain factors so I will produce the correct brand.
One factor I am deciding over is the font for the "boys wear" title.
Although I want to continue to relate to children, therefore perhaps picking the children's-writing style, I also need to relate to the parent, or individual who will be purchasing the garment. And as a designer garment I feel it will be of a higher value and therefore the information on the swing tag should be similar to a high-end designer adults wear. I have already related to the child with the logo and the design, but need to sell the garments to the busy, well-earning and designer clothes wearing parent.

Market Research: Dolce and Gabbana Children's wear

Dolce and Gabbana have a great collection at the moment featuring cartoon characters. Since I am designing characters to put on to clothes I need to think about composition etc. These provide some good inspiration for this:

Market Research: John Galliano Childrens wear

I have found John Galliano's range of children's wear, which is an interesting range of prints and colours. The following boys wear tops are from a winter collection, featuring themes of skiing and snowboarding.

I like these all-over prints and the use of collage with newspaper prints, text and image prints.
The use of colour is interesting and very bright, fitting the style of Galliano.

I also saw this top which is a little more subtle:

I like this style which looks like an allover print about to be revealed underneath a grey top.
